Technology Licensing and Intellectual Property Management, Oil Well Logging, Acoustic Forensics
ID: 108229

Expert's work in the field of vibration includes vibration analysis, isolation, and vibration related-noise mitigation. As Adjunct Professor of Mechanical Engineering at Yale University from 1989 to 1996, he taught graduate level courses on the subject of vibrations.
Acoustic and wave propagation phenomena are areas in which Expert specializes. Applications include diverse industrial settings, such as oil well drilling and logging, seismic analysis, structural design, and mitigation of noise in consumer products. He has published more than a dozen articles in technical journals and books dealing with acoustical and wave propagation phenomena in elastic and anelastic materials, and with such related phenomena as the interaction between elastic waves and crack growth in brittle solids.
Logging is the process by which specialized instruments are used to measure and record a host of rock formation characteristics during well drilling. Virtually every discipline in the fields of mechanics, electronics, and physics -- ranging from acoustics to nuclear instrumentation -- is brought to bear in the measurements made by logging instruments. Expert has extensive experience in working with oil companies and oil service companies in developing and using such devices, and interpreting the resulting measurements.
Much of Expert's career has been focused on industrial applications of the mechanical engineering sciences relating to aerospace, petroleum, and instrumentation technologies. He can offer specific expertise in the mechanics of solids and fluids, vibrations, acoustics, failure analysis, and petroleum exploration and producing technology.
Expert developed Mobil Oil Corporation's worldwide exploration and producing technology licensing program and created a multimillion-dollar business. Subsequently joined Mobil to manage the new business.
