Synthetic Organic Chemistry for Diagnostics, Pharma, and Biotechnology
ID: 733716
Pennsylvania, USA
Expert has developed 4 synthetic methods for small molecule linker conjugates (with a total of 15 steps) for antibody production and synthesis that are currently being used in late stage development and manufacturing of an in vitro diagnostic. Product launch is expected by 2018.
Expert has perfected a synthesis of an antigen-linker conjugate that overcame severe solubility and purification issues. He synthesized material for research, development and manufacturing. Product launch is expected in late 2017.
Expert has 20 publications and 13 patents or patent applications related to drug discovery and development in the following areas: antineoplastic agents, antiviral agents, CNS drugs, nonaddictive pain treatment, and antimicrobial agents.
Expert has developed self-assembling cytotoxins, a combintarial approach to target selective drug synergism.
Expert has optimized the purity in scaleup synthesis of a small molecule for pain treatment candidate, which has shown highly significant activity in clinical trials and has been awarded fast-track designation in a second trial in late 2016. He has also developed and completed synthetic methods for drug impurities to support stability studies.
The structure determination and synthetic procedure of a chiral drug candidate developed by Focus Synthesis was used in the client A’s pre-IND documentation to support a successful pre-IND meeting with the FDA that allowed clinical trials to begin in Q4 2014.
Expert has determined the structure of a highly unusual drug metabolite through synthesis of deuterated drug analogs, interpretation of the MS, and chemical synthesis.
As a consultant, Expert conducts the following:
Developing workarounds for synthetic chemistry and purification challenges, including redesign of molecules where needed.
Development of scalable synthetic strategies for diagnostic tool molecules and drug candidates.
Development of successful synthetic strategies for diagnostics, including a macrocycle requiring 14 steps.
Writing patent applications (with attorney).
Preparation of grant applications.
Design of patentable, synthetically accessible alternatives to existing bioactive molecules and fluorescent probes.
Determination of drug candidate metabolite structures.
Determination of structure of chiral molecules.
Development of novel, patentable ideas for molecular scale electronics.
