Expert (pronounced Kosov-ski) has expertise in surface modification engineering, including ion implantation, physical vapor deposition, thin films, and diamond and diamond-like carbon coatings. He has conducted extensive research in surface modification methods to improve the biocompatibility of implantable devices, especially in the area of orthopedics. He also has extensive experience in wear behavior and related theories, high-temperature unlubricated wear of structural ceramics, processing of high-temperature superconducting ceramics, and the interactions of ion beams with ceramic surfaces.

Expert is experienced in electronic metallurgy, including materials for power generation, electrical contacts, and amorphous metallic materials. He is adept in the metallurgy of laser welding and laser cladding, and is experienced in the application of fracture mechanics to welding. In addition, he is familiar with the tribiological behaviors of ceramics and steels.

Expert's expertise includes air plasma, vacuum plasma spray, and transfer arc, as well as physical vapor deposition (PVD) and chemical vapor deposition (CVD).
