Science and Technology of Hair and Skin Cosmetics, Science and Technology of Fiber-Based Products
ID: 725299
New Jersey, USA
He is a self taught surface chemist who has done considerable work in characterizing the surface of polymeric fibers and chemical methods of modifying them. He has used the knowledge of surface chemistry to explain wicking of spin finishes in yarns and finishing of fabrics. He has used his knowledge of surface chemistry to interpret fiber-matrix adhesion in composites and how it is affected by surface modification. He has also applied this knowledge to study the spreading of hairsprays on hair.
He has worked on hair research for almost 30 years and has developed extensive expertise in testing the efficacy of various hair care products. These include shampoos, conditioners hair sprays, shine sprays, bleaches, perms and hair color (both permanent and semipermanent). Special grooming methods such as bleaching, perming and relaxation and straightening of curly (African American) hair. He has also acquired expertise in developing new methods of "claim substantiation" for various products.
He consulted on using hair conditioning polymers in laundry products to reduce fiber damage and prolonging fabric life.He consulted on the methods of reducing skin irritation in adhesive hair removing (epilation) strips. He consulted on the use of stain blocker technology used in carpet fibers to protect hair color in human hair.He consulted on measuring the flammability of human hair and extend the method to show the effects of hair care products. He consulted on developing a method to show the smooth shaving ability of razors.
