Satellite Communications Systems Consulting; Engineering, Project Management
ID: 725474
Washington, USA
He has extensive experience in designing, evaluating, and testing satellite communications systems, including small terminal systems using VSAT antennas, and larger systems using satellite earth station and teleport facilities with medium to large satellite antennas. His expertise includes satellite link analysis and preparing engineering diagrams and technical documentation.
Accomplishments include:
* He led the engineering team in design, development, and integration of a super head-end to acquire video programming from satellites, re-encode the video, and deliver
IPTV to telephone companies and other companies wanting to deliver video over IP networks to subscribers. Efforts resulted in a new product, IP Prime, and a new company division.
* He collaborated with a team of engineers on a new product, Mobile Maritime Broadband, that provides internet connectivity and voice-over IP by satellite to marine locations. This product was for KVH and has grown into the KVH Mini VSAT network.
* He designed a new satellite communications package that allows TV broadcasters to extend the reach of their base broadcast transmitters; launched by SES
Americom as SignalSat.
* He designed engineering solutions to correct audio problems with a statewide videoconferencing network involving 37 sites.
* He directed a team of 5 technicians to implement design changes to 37 sites and complete upgrades in 10 days with no interruptions to the conference schedule.
* He managed a 3-month project to monitor a customer’s satellite downlink to solve a longstanding interference problem.
* He enabled the consistent delivery of high availability and customer satisfaction through efficient scheduling while reducing overtime and minimizing operational costs.
* Ultimately, he recognized with 4 “A-Team” awards, 7 “Recognition of Excellence” awards, and 3 management cash awards.
Consulted for Globecomm Systems Inc. in developing project requirements for a GSI client who used the information to develop a Request For Proposal. This RFP was used to solicit bids for constructing a major facility for the client. Consulted as on-site project manager for Globecomm Systems in building a super head-end for a Globecomm client. Consulted as a program manager for ASC Signal in manufacturing, testing, and integrating fixed and transportable satellite antenna systems for ASC Signal clients.
