Years: 2004 to Present |
Employer: Undisclosed |
Title: Radiation Dose Reconstructor |
Department: Consulting |
Responsibilities:
He is presently performing radiation dose reconstruction analysis for DOE’s Atomic Weapon Workers. |
Years: 1999 to 2004 |
Employer: Parnell & Associates |
Title: Scientific Consultant |
Department: Consulting |
Responsibilities:
Expert provided consulting services in the areas of technology, physics, safety, instrumentation, lectures, radiation physics, technology transfer documentation, and he served on various safety committees. |
Years: 1985 to 1999 |
Employer: Halliburton Energy Services |
Title: Research Physicist |
Department: Research and Development |
Responsibilities:
He was a member of the Research Group that explored and directed the research initiatives at the Halliburton Technology Center, Duncan, Oklahoma. His accomplishments included gathering and applying knowledge from various fields of R&D to Halliburton’s business; initiating outsource contacts for R&D; and administering, budgeting, and monitoring R&D contracts, and applying their results. This position required a broad knowledge of science and its application to solve real problems in technology and business in a timely and cost-effective manner. Also, he continued to direct the Nuclear Physics Lab and conduct radiation research and serve as the Radiation Safety Officer for the Technology Center. |
Years: 1981 to 1984 |
Employer: Texas A&M University |
Title: Program Manager & Lecturer |
Department: Nuclear Science Center |
Responsibilities:
Expert’s accomplishments included directing specialized training programs in health physics, radiation instrumentation, radiochemistry, neutron physics, and reactor systems; management of personnel and budgets associated with these programs; and overseeing the purchase and operation of radiation detection instrumentation systems. He taught in the Department of Nuclear Engineering in radiation instrumentation, experimentation, and health physics. |
Years: 1977 to 1981 |
Employer: University of California |
Title: Radiation Physicist |
Department: Los Alamos National Lab, Los Alamos, NM |
Responsibilities:
He was a staff member at the 800 MeV Mesons Facility, LAMPF. His accomplishments included applied research in such areas as pulsed fast neutron detection, high-energy nuclear particle detection, and also detection, dose calculations, and shielding of neutrons, gamma rays, and beta particles that accompany an 800 MeV proton accelerator. This involved utilizing indium, gold, aluminum, sulfur, and plastic scintillation neutron activation detectors, as well as BF-3 tubes, PE counters, and TLDs. He was responsible for most neutron and gamma spectrum analyses concerned with health physics at the accelerator. |
Years: 1970 to 1976 |
Employer: University of Kansas |
Title: Research Associate |
Department: Nuclear Science Department |
Responsibilities:
From June 1975 to October 1976 Expert was a Research Assistant working on his Ph.D. thesis, renovating a Cockroft-Walton D-T 14 MeV neutron generator. He calculated, constructed, and tested the required shielding for the unit. He designed safeguards, met state regulatory requirements, and operated the neutron generator. He researched and developed the use of the O-16(n,p) reaction to continuously monitor the neutron output of the generator. He applied this system to 14 MeV neutron collimation research and phantom dose measurements. From April 1970 to September 1974, Expert was a Health Physicist Technician, one-quarter time, for the University of Kansas. |
