Expert's entire academic and industrial career has been devoted to all aspects of the technological innovation process including the actual technical generation of concepts, development of ideas for new products, formulation of new business entities, and organizations within larger organizations. He has been involved in fundamental research on the development of methodology for generating new technical ideas. He is the developer of an approach called parameter analysis which is used in some university design classes and is the subject of a short course he teaches for industry.
Expert has been involved with new technical ventures throughout his entire career as an educator, consultant, and company president. He is familiar with new venturing both within existing organizations (intrapreneuring) and with the formation of new stand-alone ventures (entrepreneuring).
Expert has been teaching and doing research in this area for his entire career. He has developed a methodology for creative conceptual design, called Parameter Analysis and has been involved in other work (both research and consulting) related to the productivity of designers and design teams.
Expert's dissertation area of study was instrumentation and control. He taught graduate control theory at MIT for five years. He is expert in smart products and other computer control applications as well as optimal control and optimization techniques.
Expert has expertise in sensor technology and has a particular interest in the design of new and different sensing applications.
Expert has done research in concurrent engineering, particularly in the area of measurement of manufacturability and the use in feedback to the designer.
Expert has been providing consulting services since 1975 for a wide variety of clients and topics.
