Process Engineering in Biotechnology, Pharmaceuticals, Food and Fermentation
ID: 730905
Ohio, USA
laboratory, pilot plant, and plant with extensive scale-up and start-up experience. Expertise in fermentation and recovery of aerobic and anaerobic microorganisms, mammalian cells,
and in the purification and immobilization of proteins. He has extensive background in biotechnology, pharmaceutical and food Good Manufacturing Practice standards, and in the
design of containment facilities for production of products using recombinant organisms.
Expert worked as a process development engineer and process engineer in the corn wet milling industry. In these positions, he was involved in pilot plant and processing plant
manufacture and use of industrial enzymes, including glucoamylase, alpha-amylase, and glucose isomerase. Experience includes fermentation, product recovery, and enzyme
immobilization. Fermentation experience includes aerobic enzyme fermentations and anaerobic fermentations for production of solvents and organic acids.
As vice president of operations for an enzyme production company, Expert was responsible for process development, process design, construction, start-up, and manufacturing
of starch processing enzymes for the corn wet milling industry.
During more than twenty years working for plant design and engineering firms, Expert was responsible for conducting feasibility studies and preliminary process designs for
numerous domestic and foreign companies. Industries covered include food processing, drug synthesis, monoclonal antibody production, recombinant DNA containment, industrial
enzyme manufacture, and plasma fractionation. He developed process models to predict utility usage, optimize equipment list, identify process bottlenecks, and minimize
manufacturing cost.
