---|---|---|---|
Years: 2007 to Present | Employer: Undisclosed | Title: Optical Consultant | Department: |
Responsibilities:Since mid 2007 Expert has been an independent optical consultant at this company providing consulting services to the photonics sector. Most of his time he was employed at the Dutch Department of Defence, with the main topics being calibration and fiber optics. Besides this he worked on several optical measurement set-ups, laser safety and advised on several small optical related subjects. Besides that he did some advise work for several SME's. |

Years: 2003 to 2007 | Employer: Ingenieursbureau IPSE bv | Title: Director / Owner / Optical Engineer | Department: |
Responsibilities:Because of his previous experience he set-up his own engineering bureau specialized in photonics. The projects ranged from the construction of laser diode modules in small series, LED light sources to laser scanners. Markets included the food industry, agro automotive, traffic, purification and entertainment industry. For those optical modules the company did the entire design, proof of principle tests, construction and field tests of the prototype. |

Years: 2000 to 2003 | Employer: Tyco Electronics | Title: Product Development Engineer | Department: Fiber optic division |
Responsibilities:While at Tyco Electronics he worked on two major sub-projects both within what was then known as the laser cleave project. First he had to work out the optics for the production laser cleave system and do initial testing with it and parallel with it he did research whether it was possible to create cylindrical optics on the single mode fiber tip with the laser cleave process. He succeeded in that and because of that he was named in the patent.Besides that he worked many custom made fiber optic connector which Tyco designed on customer request. At any given time he had at least 10 projects on his desk ranging from a feasibility study on a customer request, to making samples with the laser cleave process to design a complete connector in which he had to combine optics, glass, mechanics ceramics and if required glue. During that period he worked with colleagues from Japan, Europe and the USA. |

Years: 1998 to 2002 | Employer: Philips | Title: Instrumentation Specialist | Department: Research |
Responsibilities:During his time at Philips Research he had to advice his colleagues with the purchasing of the right equipment and when a research question like for example “how can I see one hair shaved off by a Philips Razor without changing the functionality of the razor?”. He had to work out and construct the set up for that kind of tests. |
