Expert is board certified in Anesthesiology. After receiving his M.D. degree from Rush Medical College in 1986, he received his training at Washington University School of Medicine with an internship in general medicine in 1987, resident training in anesthesiology in 1989 and fellowship training in Neuroanesthesiology in 1990. He has served as chairman of the department for 10 years and is currently clinically and administratively active. He is the head of Operating Room Management Committee at his institution and has been administratively active as past chairman of the Finance Committee of Physicians group, VP of Physicians Group, and a member of Quality and Safety committee of the Board of Directors of the Health System at his institution. He is also an expert in neurosurgery, clinical neurosciences and radiology, serving on several committees at various medical schools.
Within the medical and health industry, he is experienced with policy and technology transfer, quality and patient safety issues, operating room performance improvement and academic evaluation for medical students and residents. He has also assessed risk management in medical practices, particularly in surgical practices. He is involved in the process of examining and assessing protocol and research policies and procedures for several clinical research societies. He is also experienced with medical finance issues and matters. He has also worked with several pharmaceutical companies to negotiate price of various products.
He has been and currently still holds several professional appointments including as oral examiner, nominating committee member, question writer for residency and medical exam programs, evaluator for several evaluation committees, and advisory board member for several local, regional and national healthcare and anesthesiology associations.
He has published multiple research papers in his areas of expertise and is currently doing research in neuroprotective measures both in the brain and spinal cord. Other areas of research also include prophylaxis for nausea and vomiting after surgical procedure. His current investigation projects include Morphine and Ondansetron or Ondansetron and Prochlorperazine for Control of Pain, Nausea and Vomiting after Intraabdominal Surgery, Glutamate Concentration in the Red Nucleus After Traumatic Spinal Cord Injury, Microvascular Decompression versus Balloon Microcompression for Treatment of Trigeminal Neuralgia, Hemifacial Spasm and Geniculate Neuralgia and Chemokine Levels in Human Cerebrospinal Fluid.
