Expert has extensive expertise in molecular diagnostics, particularly for infectious pathogens. He is an expert in test development using state of the art technologies, including real time PCR. He has developed and implemented many tests for the detection of pathogenic bacteria and viruses for diagnostic purposes as well as surveillance and epidemiologic purposes. He has performed these functions in many settings including private industry, hospital, academics and government (public health).

Expert has extensive experience in genetic manipulations of DNA and RNA, including cloning, recombinant DNA, and DNA sequencing. He also has solid expertise in all variations of PCR, including real time PCR. Further, he is a "RNA" scientist by training, with extensive experience in RNA manipulations, including RNA isolation, sequencing, RT-PCR and real time RT-PCR.

In addition to molecular diagnostics, Expert has significant interest and experience in DNA fingerprinting technology and applications. He has particular interest in applications of fingerprinting applications of microbial pathogens for disease surveillance and outbreak investigations. He has developed many applications using a variety of different fingerprinting technologies, including PFGE, hybridization-based, and PCR-based methods.
