Responsibilities:Expert provides service to fabrication companies, design consultants, and forensic investigation consultants. Among other projects, he has conducted technical review of project requirements for an anti-vibration systems firm and for an energy group. For the latter, he also undertook full authority in production with the internal Welding Coordinator -- and provided support on essential documents. The two primary projects were fuel cell storage racks for a luxury automotive brand, as well as a stainless steel bridge.For another firm -- a wharf contractor -- Expert conducted onsite support and regular visits to tower block and bridge fabricators in Holland and Belgium. He was retained as a consulting Metallurgist and Welding Engineer to advise on technical matters as required. Responsibilities:Expert has worked at the concept stage of an innovative, maintenance-free bridge in central London with a design life of 125 years and copper/nickel and carbon manganese steel in its roll bonded plate, which will require process welding.He has reviewed welding and inspection procedures for remedial works on a bridge requiring thick steel fabrication, mechanical testing, and welding trial monitoring. He has consulted on a construction material issues in Hong Kong and China to inspect steelwork, organization, and the control of mechanical testing. In building construction, Expert conducted failure investigation to determine the cause of weld failures during the site welding of structural steelwork. He provided assistance to the designer in documentation specification and review regarding the construction of pontoons and on-shore steelwork. He conducted visits to fabricators in the UK to assess quality, to audit quality documentation, to monitor progress, and to inspect steelwork. Per external commission in Greece, Expert advised on failure mechanisms in an S690 grade steel billet at 400 x 400 x 600mm in dimension and which formed the central part of the structural node. In total 30 are required for the roof structure. Expert conducted post-fabrication inspection and crack detection. Expert advised and supervised fabrication in the UK, Poland China, where duties included technical information review -- welding and inspection procedures -- and visits to audit fabricators. He advised and assisted onshore activity specification, design and monitoring. The goal was the repair of offshore monopole structures. At a university stadium in Botswana, Expert advised the local design team on fabrication, welding and inspection, including onsite visits. He was commissioned for failure investigations of a ball mill in Russia -- a claim exceeding £2 million. The scope of the investigation included site visits, metallurgical analysis, investigation and reporting.
