Admitted to The Sharif University of Technology (The best university in Iran and well known in USA even on those days) in 1972, in the field of Metallurgical Engineering, to obtained B.Sc. with rank no.1 in 1976. Obtained the scholarship to do Ph.D. to become a faculty member of the Isfahan University of Technology (IUT). After a 4 months industrial training in Yorkshire Imperial Metals, Leeds, UK, entered the Ohio State University, Columbus, Ohio, where obtained Ph.D. in 1980, with a GPA of 3.5 out of 4. Ph.D. was in Metallurgical Engineering Department, Fontana Corrosion Center, which was the top in Corrosion in the USA and the world. Returned to IUT, where was a faculty member for 30 years. Did two sabbaticals in Australia and UK during these years. Selected as National distinguished Professor and also Iranian Metallurgical Engineers Society Distinguished Professor. Considered by friends and former students as the Iranian Mr. Corrosion.
In 2012, migrated to the US and became a citizen. Was a visiting Professor at Georgia Institute of Technology, Atlanta, GA for 2 years, and a Faculty associate at the Employer for 8 years, and got the title of the Fellow of the Teaching Academy.
Known in the area of Corrosion, Electrochemistry, structure/property relationship and phase transformation in Metals and Alloys. This creates a unique combination to do Failure Analysis..

Years: 1998 to 1999 | Country / Region: UK | Summary: Senior Research Fellow, The University of Nottingham – United Kingdom. Collaborating with major tire industries to improve the life of the steel belted radial tires. The problem was the corrosion and failure of steel threads used in steel belted radial tires. It was decided to use galvanized steel wires to mitigate the corrosion and failure. Then a new problem was the poor adhesion of the rubber to the galvanized steel. So, we Implemented innovative techniques to improve adhesion of organic coatings on galvanized steel through controlling texture and morphology of zinc electrodeposit. This was a large project supported by famous tire companies and led to several patents and commercialized |

Training / Seminars |
---|
Have had numerous Training/Seminars/short courses in various industries. Developed own workshop course to teach practical aspect of Physical Metallurgy and Materials Selection. Used to go to various industries not only for taking part in their technical meetings, also to train and teach their personnel how to select various alloys and their heat treatment. Started working in a Foundry and Machine Building plant in Doroud for about 1.5 years before taking the faculty job at IUT. In Doroud, did the following: 1. Commissioned a semiautomatic molding line. 2. Commissioned an induction furnace . 3. Commissioned a Chemical analysis and Metallography lab. It was because of this background that Expert continued industrial collaboration in parallel to faculty position, as a consultant, and designed and built 1. One of the most advanced and successful Casting and Machine building plant in Najafabad 2. Hot dip Galvanizing plant 3. Heat treatment plant |
