Expert believes that successful web promotion depends on long term relationships with marketing and sales teams. Unlike low-end providers who offer disk space and little else, Expert's approach is to conduct extensive interviews to learn each client's business in order to understand that client's goals, challenges, needs, ideas, and ambitions. He then creates a website or web promotion strategy that matches a client's needs. This discussion is then transformed into an Internet Business Plan, which serves as a guideline to design the evolution of a business web presence. Examples of IBP's and Client proposals are available by request.
Expert then serves as a project manager to implement a client's plan. His services include designing the site architecture, developing content for the site, supervising the graphic elements, and creating innovative features to increase the value the site delivers to the user. He is also involved in implementing advertisement tracking and ROI analysis using virtual domain addresses and other tracking tools. He is familiar with evolving marketing strategies for client sites and makes proactive recommendations to increase site traffic. His understanding of Internet trends and hot button issues allows him to recommend strategic market positions for his clients.
Understanding how different search engines function, Expert determines the best technique to increase the relevance of his websites. He has created websites that have consistently appeared in the top 1% of search results for the keywords selected by his clients.
Though not a programmer, Expert has assisted in the design and implementation of over 20 database-driven websites. He has recently completed the specification for database agent technology, which integrates existing internal databases with Internet resources. He works with a programmer/developer who has completed projects in Oracle, Sybase, Microsoft Access, Microsoft SQL, FoxPro, C++, Visual Basic, Java, Filemaker, and an assortment of other languages and applications. Expert's role is to meet with the client, learn the client's needs, formulate a strategy, communicate with the programmer, provide a price, and design the overall specifications for the project. He possesses the ability to demonstrate database concepts to the lay person and provide the sales or marketing perspective, which is often missing from many MIS projects.
His database applications range from the innovative "Call for Abstracts" for the Annual National AIDS Update Conference to a searchable directory devoted to helping parents find child care in Maryland. Additional applications in which Expert has been influential in developing include a virtual trade show application, a human resources manager application, a web-based sales/leads tracking system, and a listings database for associations and membership organizations.
Many companies currently employ expensive leased lines and MIS employees to connect various offices, whether for sharing sales leads, technical support knowledge databases, corporate calendars, customer information, accounts receivable, or other corporate databases. Expert understands how to use a combination of client server technology, the Internet, intranets, and a competent ISP to significantly reduce these costs. By replacing leased lines (which run from $1,500/month per office) with local POP Internet connections (about $20/month per office), it is possible to greatly reduce the cost of operating a WAN. Additionally, because this system is built on a SQL database (IBM, Informix, Oracle, Microsoft, or Sybase), it is possible to outsource very technical database issues and MIS support and reduce in-house MIS demand.
Expert has recently completed a partnership with one of the nation's leading providers of Digital Subscriber Line (DSL) services and can offer advice on high bandwidth Internet access and secured private networks in metropolitan areas throughout the US.
