Expert received his M.D. degree from Saint Louis University School of Medicine in 1995. He completed his internship and resident training in internal medicine at the University of Texas Health Science Center in 1998. He obtained the Chief Resident position his final year of residency.
He is board certified in Internal medicine by the American Board of Internal Medicine and lisenced to practice internal medicine in the state of Texas. He has 10 years of experience as a Clinician and a phsycian. He is currently the president of a 10-physician group. He is also a Clinical Associate Professor and an attending physician at several hospitals and universities.
He is an expert on influenza and has published articles on the basics of influenza. His knowledge on the topic include season and conditions of the flu, complications with the flu including symptoms that may lead to pneumonia, bacterial infections and sinus infections, and how to how to minimize the discomfort of the flu. He is also an expert on the immunity aspect of the flu, including various antiviral medications such as amantidine, oseltamivir, or ramantidine and effectiveness of the flu vaccine as well as the types of antibodies developed to fight off influenza within the body. He is aware and knowledgeable on the side effects of antiviral medications as well as how the antiviral medication works within the body. He is also knowledgeable of what health conditions may affect the effectiveness of various antiviral medications used to treat influenza. He has done extensive studies and assessments of the different strains of influenza as well as the to distinguish between flu symptoms versus symptoms of the common cold.
