HVAC and Energy Conversion Technologies: Design, Construction, Analysis and Troubleshooting
ID: 733396
Florida, USA
Almost all Expert's projects have involved construction oversight, start-up and commissioning. The boiler capacities and pressures have ranged from 500MWe@2400psig to 100 bhp at 100 psig. The plant designs include single and batteries of multiple individual boilers. All have involved compliance with EPA emission standards. He has designed the distribution systems for steam, hot water and condensate associated with such plants.
As a consultant, Expert has written a large number of technical reports on failed CHP Infrastructure for Jones Lang LaSalle (boilers and steam failures), the State of Illinois CDB (boiler failure), and the University of Illinois at Chicago (Chilled Water Distribution failures).

Additional Experience
Expert Witness Experience |
---|
Expert was involved in two arbitrations and was hired to prepare technical reports and give depositions on several engineering cases. In most cases he has worked for lawyers defending contractors and not owners. He was hired by a past employer to provide technical deposition on the 69 W Washington case in Chicago where six people were killed by suffocation. The case was settled out of court for $100,000,000. Other cases involved a claim of defective design against Holabird and Root by the Sisters of Mercy. His testimony in arbitration resulted in total exoneration of Holabird and Root. Additionally, a mold damage claim was made by the University of Illinois against a subsidiary of Paschen Construction -- after Expert's technical report, the University of Illinois dropped the claim. |
Training / Seminars |
---|
For several years, Expert delivered seminars on power plant design to Ingersoll Rand sales and marketing personnel. He did the same for United Conveyor Corporation staff. |
Vendor Selection |
---|
He has been the lead professional in the evaluation and selection of boilers, turbines, condensers, cooling towers, boiler feed pumps, hotwell pumps, FD and ID fans, precipitators and bag houses, and chillers. |
Other Relevant Experience |
---|
Expert has conducted a great deal of start-up, commissioning and troubleshooting of plants and HVAC systems throughout his career. He prefers this work to other forms of consulting work. |
