Heat Transfer

ID: 718550
Minnesota, USA
ELECTRONIC COOLING; MICROELECTRONICS COOLING. Expert has devoted a great deal of attention to the development of liquid-immersion cooling techniques for microelectronic packages. His work has spanned the entire range of possibilities, including enhanced forced convection, mixed convection, jet impingement, boiling, and cryogenic liquids.
MODELING OF INDUSTRIAL FURNACES, OVENS, AND KILNS. Expert is developing mathematical models and computer programs to predict heat transfer, flame shape, temperature distribution, and pollutant formation in natural gas-fired furnaces. He has developed models for both directly-fired and radiant tube furnaces, and tested model predictions against experimental data.
CHILLED-WATER COOLING COILS. Expert has concluded extensive experimental studies on the performance of chilled water cooling coils when used with thermal storage units. He also developed a complete coil model based on this work.
COMPUTATIONAL FLUID DYNAMICS. Expert has developed algorithms and FORTRAN computer programs utilizing finite difference and finite element methods to simulate incompressible viscous flows.
BIOLOGICAL HEAT TRANSFER; BIOMEDICAL ENGINEERING. Most recently, Expert has been involved in developing mathematical models for the prediction of temperature distribution and tissue destruction in human organs subject to hyperthermia. He has been involved in developing a microwave catheter for thermal ablation of tissue in enlarged prostates.
