ID: 729197
Illinois, USA
Expert has significant experience in organizing bioinformatic pipelines for the analysis of high-throughput genomic data, such as classical or next-
generation sequencing projects. He has extensive experience working with 454 and Illumina next generation sequence data and preforming
reference-genome and de novo assemblies. He led the development of several visualization and computational tools used for discoveries of the
patterns of mammalian, insect, worm and avian chromosome evolution.
Expert used his biological background for discoveries of economically important mutations in cattle influencing milk production traits and Welsh
sheep breeds. He contributed to genetic analysis of various species and published numerous papers in Science, Nature on the subjects related to
genetics. He holds a US patent on use of such mutations discovered during his research.
Expert. Expert has a long lasting experience in bioinformatics. He is the author of many computational programs that are used to analyse and visualise
evolutionary events in animal chromosomes. He is the expert who actively promotes and uses a synthesis of an evolutionary biology and applied
studies to help contemporarily livestock breeding. He works with multiple SMEs in the UK to build better livestock for the future. He used the data on
genotyping of >300 samples of sheep to the study genetic profiles of Welsh sheep breeds and now is using this resource to study signatures of
selection within the population in order to link desirable phenotypes to genotypes. He analyses the genomic sequences of multiple ruminant species
in order to find the regions of ruminant genomes that are related to production traits in cattle, sheep and goat.
