Expert has performed an extensive statistical analysis of student achievement and growth for all students currently enrolled in Indiana Charter schools. Using Hierarchical Linear Modeling, she examined differences in growth between charter school students and students in traditional public schools. Expert has performed focus groups to examine school engagement in middle school, using a variety of developmentally appropriate tasks to engage the usually reticent middle school students in lively and informative conversations about school climate, academic rigor and social issues in their school.Expert has designed a comprehensive quantitative evaluation procedure for several educational reform movements being implemented in the state of Indiana. This research uses mixed methods research that includes quantitative student achievement and survey data, as well as qualitative observational and focus group methods.
