Since the late 1970s Expert has been using and developing DMA/DMTA and also using other thermal analysis techniques too particularly for testing polymers and composites.
1976 to 1981 with Du Pont Instruments then PL thermal Science from 1981 to 1994. 1995 set up own business selling and developing the new Triton DMA. Have own DMA still.
Many labs offer DMA testing, but few know how to best test a very wide range of materials from very soft silicones to powdery ones. Thin fibers and rigid composites too.
We keep our DMA now in Cambridge with access at 2-3 days notice typically outside the vacation periods in summer and Christmas time. Hence a rapid service can be offered.
We have seen many poor DMA runs over the years and know how best to optimize the conditions whatever the sample size or form from a few milligrams upwards. We also offer DSC testing
but this is usually 1000 times less sensitive than DMA, and TGA-MS to identify the gases given off on over-heating or in a fire situation. In addition to our own newish DMA we support still the
old PL/Rheometrics DMTAs which were last made in the mid 1990s - and have an exhaustive stock of spare parts for these almost obsolete systems. There are still dozens of these in use
today out of hundreds sold worldwide over the years


Since the mid 1990s Expert has been working with Lasercomp Inc of the USA who makes thermal conductivity apparatus used by the National Physical Lab in UK and Oak Ridge lab in
Tennessee USA amongst well over a thousand other users around the world. He runs his own lab here in the UK with 4 or 5 apparatus at any one time covering the T range from 0C to 250C so
has even worked for some major US organizations whose own labs cannot cover this wide T range.

Most materials tested have been polymeric or composite or vacuum panels but we can also test liquids, gels, fibrous mats etc. We cannot test copper or gold, but the less conductive metals
such as stainless steel, aluminum and all ceramics too. He tests to Iso 8301, ASTM C518, DIN52612 and many other international standards, so has built up an expertise over many years.
Also in the UK we rent out such apparatus and supply the Lasercomp systems for sale too. Service support is supplied as well for these very reliable apparatus that are often used for more than 10 years without major overhaul.
