As The Syrian Virtual University (SVU) BTEC Higher National Diploma (HND) and top-up programmes director, she has been responsible for setting SVU academic standard and QA procedures in compliance with Edexcel and The University of Greenwich, developed learning and teaching and implementation strategies and monitored there implementation. As SVU international collaboration programmes leader, she is responsible for the identification of potential progression routes, writing proposals, approaching UK universities and sitting on approval and review panels.
She has gained varied experience working within organisations to develop and improve their processes. Particular interests include knowledge transfer, computer based management systems, knowledge-based planning and construction production organisation design, and design and construction integration. She is a project manager by profession. She trains students in project management skills. She also manages her research projects and provide consultancy to the industry. She has worked for large organisations for more than 17 years, e.g. Mace, Arup and GCfB, .investigating the best way to achieve quality and how to implement best practice
Her research as well as her work involves problem solving on a daily basis. She has developed innovative approaches and solutions for the construction industry. She has carried out research projects, produced publications, provided consultancy, delivered MSc course and other workshops, lectured all were successful and according to agreed deadlines. She works with people from the industry as well as academics and communicates with them at all levels (from projects directors to operatives of major players in the industry), works with them, interviews them, prepares and runs steering committees and workshops, presents finding to boards and at industry events. She has a proven ability to produce material such as academic papers, reports, PowerPoint presentations, graphics, process maps, mind maps, excel sheets, databases and websites.
Providing consultancy services to a University in the UK, duties include conducting academic research projects and designing, developing, organising and running modular courses and workshops.She was the programme director of SVU HND. Her duties included, administering, developing, supervising and regularly evaluating the HND programme academic standard in compliance with Edexcel requirements. Maintain relations with the HND tutors, which promote their effective teaching, positive morale, creative thinking and professional development. Administer the policies of SVU as determined by the Board and work with the Board in developing and modifying plans for the future of the HND programme with particular interest in finding top up programmes for the HND graduates. Keep the Board fully informed about the programme affairs. Her efforts in facilitating the negotiations and getting all the necessary approvals from SVU, Edexcel and The University of Greenwich resulted in suites of top up programmes offered to SVU HND graduates and later for students with relevant Syrian Associate degrees. Worked with Knowledge Online team to provide insights and research that help organisations in shaping their e-business strategies, implementing effectively web-based technologies and leading clients towards new models for business and ways of working.Developed with PCM a framework for continuous process improvement. This framework was captured within PCM Procedural system and developed as part of PCM Intranet. Used the knowledge acquired from investigating the structure of project team decision-making patterns to produce a hierarchy of process maps for the complete design and construction process.Member of the Knowledge Management Group set up to support innovation, the generation of new ideas and the exploitation of Mace’s thinking power. The objectives of this work were to capture insight, experience, and make this available and usable throughout the organisation; to rationalise sources of know how and expertise; to foster collaboration, knowledge sharing, continual learning and performance improvement; and to improve the quality of decision making.
Was responsible for process mapping of existing business systems to achieve improvement, benchmarking existing project performance and establishing measurement criteria, identifying needs and preparing action plans for improvement in the following areas:
• Quality management system
• Design management procedures
• Project feed back system.
Information systems generally including the use of databases, Intranet, Internet; exploring methods of best practices in the construction industry
Management tools developed include process maps, QFD, performance indicators and benchmarking.

Responsibilities:The i-tech (Integrated Technology Clusters) programme is an innovative management programme based on technology clusters framework and designed for clients, project and construction managers. This programme aims to give purpose and structure to supply chain management, integration, collaborative working, design management and all of the other current management solutions. Her work involves developing a suite of courses that aims at cultivating confidence; sufficient to deliver the technology cluster concept in modern construction projects, and building a community of practitioners supported by the university to implement new approaches to integrated working.The i-tech programme development involved leading academic and industrial collaborators including Mace Group, Bovis Lend Lease, Balfour Beatty, Construction Excellence and the Open University. |
