My areas of knowledge and responsibility were that of managing, regulatory compliance with both health and safety issues (Risk Analysis). I assisted with various mine plans as it pertains to safety in the following areas mine emergency operations, roof control, fire fighting, mine rescue training, ventilation plans, dust and noise control these are to name just a few . I am also responsible for overseeing accident investigations, and violation reduction along with violation conferences .I provide training for supervisory staff and hourly staff in the area of employment development, such as operator training, supervisory training, and communications training. In addition, I have an extensive background in mine emergency operations and education and training program development. I had designed and implemented a state of the art Training Center along with a fully equipped mine lab. This lab depicted an underground mine complete with mining equipment. In addition, I was instrumental in designing, acquiring and training of the mobile mine rescue station and team members .Designed and coordinated Mine Rescue Contest for comprehensive training scenario. I have trained & won several awards in mine rescue competition during several years of competition. I have 34 years mining experience in both underground, conventional, continuous, long wall, & surface mining mountain top removal contour, Highwall mining. I have 11 years experience as a state official as underground WV mine inspector, safety instructor & administrator. I was an adjunct instructor at the National Mine Academy for the department of Labor (MSHA) were I was instructor that was instrumental in mine emergency operations training,& special investigations training to name a few . I have an extensive background in mine rescue operations, MSHA and state inspection procedures and instruction thereof.

Responsibilities:Responsible for overseeing the implementation and adherence to Massey Energy’s Safety Policy, as well as state and federal regulations and for the training of each person pursuant thereof. I have been a guest presenter at the National Mine Health and Safety Academy for their International Instructors Conference for the last 10 years. |
