Designed equipment and quantatively measured slagging and fouling at a number of boilers in Australia and the USA.Field tested low NOx systems for furnaces and boilers. These included staged combustion, low NOx burners, reburning, and use of separated air.Collected Acid Mine Drainage (AMD) samples from several mines, determined the mechanism of correct of AMD using Red Mud (alumina waste), developed treatment technique and demonstrated the effectivness of treatment at an abandoned gold mine in New South Wales, Australia.Measured N species profiles in a number of operating coal-fired boilers and used these values in verification trials of CFD models of NOx formation.Analyzed deposits samples using Scanning Electron Microsopy (SEM) using Microprobe Analysis (MPA) to measure the elemental composition. Used these values with phase diagrams to indentify the deposition problem and the effect of several additives to correct the problem.
