In clinical research, he was a principal investigator for Thoratec Laboratories in the implantation of the Thoratec Ventricular Assist Device in the 1990's. He also assisted in the product development of the Coalescent U-Clip anastomotic device, and has given numerous presentations in the U.S. and Europe on the utility of the device. He is currently a consultant to Medtronic in its peer-to-peer surgeon education program, providing training in off-pum coronary artery bypass surgery.
