catalysis and surface science. Later he managed a group applying molecular scale simulation to problems in refining. The last years of his career were
spent managing COP's advanced hydrocarbon fuel research program. In this position he worked with biofuels (including COP's renewable diesel projects),
hydrogen and advanced clean fuels from petroleum.
Since retirement Expert has maintained an active consulting practice. His clients include 1) several biofuel startups, 2) the US Department of Energy where
he has served on peer review panels and expert panels in biofuels and hydrogen, and 3) COP where he still works on hydrogen fuel issues and carbon
capture.
Worked with second generation biofuels startup. Provided fuels expertise to guide identification of target fuel molecules for engineered organisms. Worked with thermochemical conversion biofuels startups to guide EPA fuel registration and insure product marketability.
