Expert is an expert in best-basis wavelet packet transform, fixed and adapted local trigonometric transform, and fast approximate Karhunen-Loeve transform. He has applied these algorithms to signal processing, seismic data compression and feature extraction. He has accomplished expertise in implementing his algorithms in the C and FORTRAN programming languages and on various architectures. He has his own development tools and has produced software under contract to commercial clients.

Expert has two patents on a method and apparatus for encoding and decoding using wavelet packets.

Expert has implemented image compression algorithms, including a certified WSQ-compliant fingerprint image compression code. He has written a survey article on the WSQ standard and related algorithms.
