Responsibilities:Work involves providing structural analysis and quantitation of a wide range of analytes including pollutants, drugs, lipids, nucleotides, peptides and other metabolites using both LC-MS/MS and GC-MS/MS in biological fluids and tissue/environmental/chemical samples. I also work on data analysis for LC and GC MS/MS measurements with ABSciex Analyst, Analyst TOF and Agilent Masshunter/Chemstation software including peak finding, peak integration and data export. Additionally, I train students/postdocs/scientists in instrumentation and analytical techniques such as sample extractions and preparation including liquid and solid phase extraction using manual or automated systems, solvent evaporation and sample reconstitution. |

Responsibilities:My graduate work has focused on multiple aspects of oxidative DNA damage and repair within a single cohort of subjects in multiple brain regions during the progression of Alzheimer’s disease (AD). The studies have included quantification and analysis of gene expression, protein levels, and enzyme activities of multiple DNA repair proteins involved in the BER pathway including OGG1, UNG, APE1, POLB, PARP1, XRCC1, and FEN1. A second project focused on the investigation of genomic oxidative damage within the coding sequences of proteins found to be differentially regulated during the progression of AD by real-time PCR analysis. |
