ExpertReich has 30 years of experience doing advanced laparoscopic surgery. From 1983 on, he has rarely resorted to an open laparotomy operation. He is known worldwide as a pioneer in the field of laparoscopic surgery. His special interest and expertise include total laparoscopic hysterectomy for the large uterus, excision of rectovaginal endometriosis, adhesion surgery, and prevention and management of laparoscopic complications. He has recieved several prestigious awards for his extraordinary contributions to laparoscopy from the SLS and is the first non-European honorary member of the European Society of Gynecologic Endoscopy.
Expert performed a number of “firsts”, including laparoscopic electrosurgical oophorectomy, laparoscopic hysterectomy, total laparoscopic hysterectomy, laparoscopic lymphadenectomy in women (for ovarian c/a) and men (for prostate c/a), laparoscopic rectal resection (for excision of full thickness rectal endometriosis), laparoscopic hysterectomy for cancer, fetoscopic umbilical cord ligation (for an acardiac twin at 19 weeks gestation), fetal surgery (1st fetoscopic umbilical cord ligation of an acardiac twin at 19 weeks gestation), and abscess surgery (1976). His career achievements include laparoscopic techniques for the treatment of tubo - ovarian and pelvic abscess (acute and chronic), laparoscopic excision of ovarian endometriomas, laparoscopic techniques to treat extensive pelvic adhesions including hydrosalpinx, developing aquadissection (underwater laparoscopy), laparoscopic techniques to treat partial and complete cul-de-sac obliteration, beginning 16 year consecutive series of ectopic pregnancies treated by laparoscopy, laparoscopic techniques for tubal ligation reversal, using impermeable sac for intact removal of ovarian neoplasms, circular stapler excision of full thickness rectal endometriosis without opening the rectum, and total radical hysterectomy for cervical.
He is familiar with tubal pregnancy (salpingotomy), bipolar electrosurgery, pelvic adhesions including hydrosalpinx treatment, hemorrhagic complications of laparoscopic surgery, laparoscopic oophorectomy for serous borderline tumors, laparoscopic hemostasis, lymphadenectomy, cul-de-sac dissection, cul-de-sac obliteration secondary to retrocervical deep fibrotic endometriosis treatment, tuboovarian abscess, suturing technique, laparoscopic excision of dermoid cysts without spill, dermoid cysts intact, ureteral dissection, operative laparoscopy, laparoscopic repair of incidental bowel perforation in LASERS, suture techniques for laparoscopic extirpative surgery, rectocele repair, suture techniques for laparoscopic extirpative surgery, and Pelvic Sidewall Dissection (which was an award winning video presentation).
Currently, Expert operates internationally at workshops. He has been a guest surgeon 105 times, 69 of the times being international experiences where such as performing the first laparoscopic hysterectomy in Australia in 1990 and other countries such as Germany, Russia, Japan, Italy, and many more.
