VIBRATION & SHOCK. Expert has recently completed a comprehensive vibration / strength assessment of a large pod full of electronic components and bolted to a flying machine. Bolt strength and structural deformation / stress was calculated due to shock, crash loads, and random vibration loading conditions.
FINITE ELEMENT ANALYSIS. Expert holds a masters degree in FEA and structural mechanics from Cornell University. He has taught "Intro to FE Fundamentals" at numerous corporations throughout the world. He has ten years of experience in the development of FE modeling software and the solution of linear and nonlinear stress problems in failure analysis and design optimization.
TECHNICAL WRITING; FINITE ELEMENT ANALYSIS EDUCATION. Expert has a background in course and curriculum development in the application of the finite element method to solving practical problems. He has developed user manuals, on-line help systems, and product spec sheets for finite element modeling and analysis, as well as example problems and tutorials used in the training of analysts and engineers.
PATRAN CUSTOMIZATION. Expert has 15 years of experience in the development of custom utilities for access with the MSC/Patran system. He is proficient in the use of the Patran Command Language (PCL) to program customized Patran database storage/retrieval, X-Windows/Motif Compliant user input forms (GUI), custom graphics display, and external file I/O. Expert has successfully assisted numerous engineering companies to apply this versatile programming language to create specialized, finite element model definition and results post-processing tools in areas such as boundary element analysis, aircraft engine design, and contact stress calculations.
INTERACTIVE COMPUTER GRAPHICS. Expert's masters degree thesis topic was titled "Using Interactive Computer Graphics to Teach the Direct Stiffness Method." He has experience with Motif, Unix, menu design, X Windows, display segmentation, object and structured programming, Fortran, and C. He has designed on-line help systems, database structures, interactive man-machine interface design, and fool-proof system design.
MATERIAL FAILURE ANALYSIS; METAL FAILURE; PLASTIC FAILURE. He has experience in the areas of crack initiation and life prediction analysis for metals and plastics. Expert has applied fatigue material properties and loading cycle functions to a linear statics stress distribution in order to compute damage ratios in solid mechanical parts, such as pump casings and large hydraulic wenches.
STATICS; STRESS ANALYSIS; STRUCTURAL MECHANICS. Expert's background includes free body diagramming and stress analysis of structural and mechanical components using the finite element method. He is knowledgeable in the application of strength of materials theory to failure analysis, strain dependent problems, and plane strain problems in the fields of aerospace, automotive, and consumer-related product design feasibility, failure analysis, and design optimization.
