Request Expert

Expert is a biophysicist/biochemist working in the field of medicine. Currently, she is doing x-ray crystallography and double labelling NMR studies to ascertain the 3-dimensional structure of a protein, human chorionic gonadotropin (hCG). This protein (hormone) maintains pregnancy in the first three months of gestation. Expert is developing an antagonist to block receptor binding of hCG. Tools she uses in her research include cell culture, chromatography, and molecular biology. Most of the techniques she uses can be applied to all proteins; however, Expert is currently focusing on glycoproteins. She is also an expert in computer modeling programs and algorithms which assist in visualizing the tertiary structure of a protein.
