Expert Details
Springs, Wire Products
ID: 714149
Michigan, USA
Expert has experience with the design and manufacture of numerous types of springs. He has in-depth knowledge of compression, extension, helical, spiral torsion, coil, and leaf springs. As founder and President of a high volume production spring manufacturing plant, he has expertise in all areas of spring products. He has also been responsible for the management of engineering and quality control departments of three major spring manufacturers.
Expert is an engineering consultant in the areas of spring design and spring failure. His expertise allows him to analyze the cause and then offer solutions to problems of premature spring failure. Many of his designs are implemented in today's automobiles and trucks which can be found in seats, recliners, hood and trunk deck hinges, window regulators, parking brakes, and latch mechanism assemblies. Many applications require springs to operate for a large number of cycles. There are many reasons why springs fail, including the stress range they operate under and the maximum stress in the spring. Expert has devoted a large portion of his career to solving problems of premature spring failure. Evaluation of the environment, wire quality, workmanship, cycle rate, and spring design are just some of the items that must be analyzed when load loss and poor fatigue life problems exist.
Proper selection of wire materials is an important step in the design of any spring product. Expert evaluates the environmental conditions such as temperature, corrosion, and fatigue life, and then specifies the appropriate material. He also recommends shaped wire when appropriate.
