When Sandoz and CIBA merged into Novartis, led the team that merged Sandoz’ and CIBA ISEC programs into one cohesive program. As the North America subject mater expert (SME) for ISEC, assisted local ISEC Officers with the implementation of ISEC programs at affiliated companies such as Novartis’ Consumer Health and Animal Health Divisions.
Major accomplishments included:
• Working with the Head of ISEC for Novartis, played a major role in the integration of CIBA's and Sandoz' ISEC programs. Major activities included:
o Rewriting the ISEC manual for Novartis
o Developing and implementing the New ISEC Officers workshop
o Developing a self assessment questionnaire to determine the level of ISEC awareness at affiliate companies
o Training ISEC officers for affiliate companies such as Animal Health, CIBA Vision, Novartis Corporation, Consumer Products, etc.
o Conducting ISEC Audits of Affiliate Companies
• Managing the ISEC function for Novartis Pharmaceuticals U.S. This included:
o Developing and implementing the concept of ISEC Coordinators. Training these coordinators to complete information classifications and monitored the coordinator’s progress.
o Increasing ISEC awareness by:
? Writing ISEC articles for Novartis’ company newspaper
? Making ISEC awareness presentation to Novartis’ Departments
? Implementing Computer Based Training (CBT) for ISEC
? Conducting investigations of ISEC incidents
? Acting as the ISEC liaison to Headquarter and Affiliate ISEC Organizations
o Conducting risk assessments of all Novartis Pharmaceuticals’ Departments
o Working closely with IT to incorporate ISEC functions into new computer applications
• Identified over $100 million in value for the proprietary software of a major food company that was acquired by a major tobacco company. The documentation that justified this re-evaluation of software was used to reduce goodwill and increase cash-flow. The successful completion of this project resulted in a follow-on engagement to re-evaluate the proprietary software of a major meat processor.
