Ms. Expert has applied her microbiology education and research experience into assisting researchers with their research by ensuring their work is done in the safest possible manner while meeting and exceeding all applicable guidelines and regulations including BMBL, NIH guidelines, select agent regulations, ANSI standards, and export control . She has extensive experience with biological safety, biosecurity, select agents, dual use research of concern, and export control related issues and regulations. She has conducted research and security risk assessments and has developed biosafety manuals, standard operating procedures, institutional policies, and training sessions. She has also been involved in the design, build, and commissioning of one stand alone facility containing 3 containment laboratories (BSL-3, ABSL-3, and BSL-3Ag) and two BSL-3 laboratories inside of facilities used for multiple purposes.
She has worked with a private biotechnology company to review their existing facilities and standard operating procedures to improve them so they would be in compliance with changes in the select agent regulations. She helped them develop a suitability program and meet the new security requirements.
