Expert has over 30 years of experience in electrical code experience, having served as a Journeyman, Electrician, and Master Electrician, and he's ran his electrical contracting business for over six years. Expert has since advanced to a Certified Electrical Inspector and Electrical Plans Examiner, and has worked for many government agencies. Expert was previously a Chief Electrical Inspector, supervising a group of 10 electrical inspectors in the height of Florida's building boom.

Expert has received the highest certifications in his field, including the Chief Electrical Code Analyst certificate and the Electrical Code Official certification from the International Code Council. Due to his strong credentials and a willingness to serve, he was appointed to the Florida Building Code Administrators Board in 2005 by Governor Jeb Bush. He was subsequently reappointed by Governor Charlie Crist. In 2014, he was appointed to Code Panel 5 (grounding and bonding) for the National Electrical Code. In 2019, he was appointed to Code Panel 9 (switchboards and panelboards) for the National Electrical Code.

Expert serves on UL standards committees STP 1081 (Swimming Pool Pumps, Filters, and Chlorinators), STP 2452 (Swimming Pool and Spa Cover Operators), STP 22 (Amusement and Gaming Machines), STP 3030 (Unmanned Aerial Vehicles - Drones), and STP 1389 (Plant Oil Extraction Equipment). He is one of the nation's foremost experts with respect to building and electrical codes, and his opinion is often sought from other industry leaders to solve difficult and unusual problems.
