Expert has a BS in Industrial Engineering and has completed all course work for the PhD in Industrial Engineering at Oregon State University. He was selected as the Outstanding Engineering in America by the Institute of Industrial Engineers (IIE) and is presently the Vice President for IIE's Western United States region.
Expert is presently on the Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award (MBNQA) Board of Examiners. He has served on the MBNQA Board ten times, starting in 1993, and has evaluated dozens of applications. Expert has also been a leader in the Baldrige-based State award programs in Texas, Oregon, Florida, and California, and has led teams through consensus and site visit, including those to award-winning applicants. He has written training materials for the MBNQA Board of Examiners, including participating in the team writing the Coyote Community College case study in 2000. Expert has led internal Baldrige assessment programs for both employers and client companies.
Expert is a recognized leader in the field by APICS - the Society for Operations Management. He is the Chair of the Professional Development / Body of Knowledge Committee, owning both the creation and maintenance of the Operations Management Body of Knowledge and the recommendation and oversight for new APICS products and services. Expert has selected and implemented MRP, MRP II, ERP and Advance Planning systems in three companies. Expert has experience with a variety of vendors, including SAP. He teaches all APICS certification courses and is certified by as an APICS Qualified Instructor. Expert has also earned all APICS certifications, including Certified Fellow in Production and Inventory Management (CFPIM), Certified in Integrated Resource Management (CIRM), and Certified Supply Chain Professional (CSCP). He has designed optimized supply chains for Eli Lilly and Company and Hewlett Packard, and has presented papers on these activities with Stanford University faculty. He has presented to invitation-only supply chain forums on Supply Chain design in the fast food industry.
Expert is a Vice President in the Project Management Institute (PMI) and has taught several Undergraduate and Graduate courses in Project Management at Boise State University. He is a certified Project Management Professional (PMP) and has created and managed several project and program management offices (PMOs) in areas ranging from IT (managed over 600 projects) to process improvement/Lean Six Sigma. He is coach to over 40,000 employees on Project Management approaches and techniques as well as the use of Microsoft Project to improve PM efficiency and effectiveness.
Expert has managed the Quality function in several organizations, presently leading the Process Excellence program (Lean Six Sigma) for over 40,000 employees in the Imaging and Printing Group Quality organization. He holds the following credentials from the American Society for Quality: CQE, CRE, CQA, CMQ/OE, CSSBB - Certified Quality Engineer, Certified Reliability Engineer, Certified Quality Auditor, Certified Manager of Quality/Organizational Excellence, and Certified Six Sigma Black Belt.
Expert designed, deployed, and manages Hewlett-Packard's Lean Six Sigma program (called HP Lean Sigma), and is a Master Black Belt in that program. He partnered with GOAL/QPC to write the HP Lean Sigma Memory Jogger as a fully deployed tool to align all employees on the common vocabulary and tools of HP Lean Sigma.
