Protein- and Peptide-Based Drug Discovery, Protein Assay Development, Cell Biology, and Immuno-Blot
ID: 722604
Connecticut, USA
Expert has performed genetic recombinants to develop new hybrid molecules. These genetic modifications confer unique physical properties to genes and their protein counterparts. These unique properties would be eventually used for their identification, isolation and purification.
Expert has used a standard molecular biological approach to develop many recombinant proteins and enzymes. He has also characterized them by either standard methods or by introducing modifications in the existing methods.
Expert is an expert in dealing with any protein-based methodology. He has published a unique modification of the Western blotting technique in the Journal of Immunological Methods. Western blotting is the confirmatory test used in the identification of HIV-infected individuals. He has the expertise to handle and/or advise on the structural and functional characteristics of proteins.
Expert is an expert in protein purification and downstream characterization. He has applied affinity, ion exchange, and gel filtration column chromatography to purify many proteins for clients including Sigma Chemical Co., USBiological, Roche Molecular Biochemicals and Tranzyme. He has developed and/or modified standard operating protocols for these clients.
Array
Expert has generated several new methods and optimized many existing methods for protein research at Dr. Janet Brandsma's laboratory at Yale University. He has co-developed, with Stanley Stein of Rutgers University, a novel and proprietary drug delivery system and a novel peptide drug for Alzheimer's disease; two patents are pending on these inventions. He has also worked out the methodologies relating to the improvement of the technology.
